New Veterans Day 2020 events & food specials added!

Veterans Day is on Wed., Nov. 11. There will be a few events around Miami honoring those who served in the U.S. military, as well as restaurant deals.

For events, please be sure to check with each venue to learn more about safety protocols and procedures. 

For restaurant deals: You’ll want to ask if they require some sort of military identification to redeem the special offers.

Special events & offers for Veterans Day:

Wed., Nov. 11: 

Cutler Bay Veterans Day Breakfast: The Town of Cutler Bay invites veterans to breakfast at 9 a.m. at Sandbar Sports Grill, 20305 Old Cutler Road. The event is for both those who have served and those who are currently serving. Space is limited to comply with social distancing guidelines, so you have to register in advance. 

Florida State Parks: To thank those who have served and sacrificed, all Florida State Parks will grant free entry to all visitors on Nov. 11. Pack a picnic and celebrate this day with your loved ones. Find a park in your area using this Regional Map and spend time outdoors. Be advised that parks require facial coverings. 

Food discounts & other deals on Veterans Day

Zoo Miami: On Nov. 11, all active and veteran U.S. military personnel with identification will receive free admission. Additionally, up to six accompanying guests can get half-off general admission.

Hooters: Active-duty and retired military get 10 free boneless wings with any 10 purchased on Nov. 11. Must present a military ID or proof of service at any participating Hooters location nationwide. This deal is available for dine-in only.

BurgerFi: Veterans, Armed Forces members and first responders are invited to get a free burger of your choice, fries and a freestyle beverage at the new location in Doral. This promotion is available from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. and 5-8 p.m. Nov. 11. (The location, BurgerFi West Doral at The Shops at Beacons Lake, 1850 NW 117th Place, will have its grand opening on Nov. 12.) 

Wendy’s: From 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Nov. 11, everyone with military ID can get a free small breakfast, with no purchase necessary. Offer or hours might vary by location. 

Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt: Veterans receive their first 6 ounces of frozen yogurt and toppings for FREE on Veterans Day at the yogurt shop. If you swirl more than 6 ounces, just pay the difference.

Dunkin: Veterans and active duty military are honored at participating Dunkin’ restaurants nationwide with a free donut of their choice. No purchase necessary.

Target: In honor of Veterans Day, the popular retailer is offering all U.S. active-duty military personnel, veterans and their families 10% off their full basket through Nov. 11. Some exclusions apply. To receive the offer, you must first demonstrate eligibility by registering here. After eligibility has been verified, an exclusive, one-time Target Circle offer will be available for the customer to use in-store or online. 

Starbucks: On Veterans Day, the ubiquitous coffee chain is offering veterans, military service members and their spouses a FREE tall hot brewed coffee. 

 

Pollo Tropical: Active duty military and veterans can enjoy half-off any Cuban-pressed sandwich on Nov. 11. This deal, however, is not valid on online orders. 

Applebee’s: Free meal for veterans on Nov. 11. Choose one: Classic Bacon Cheeseburger, 6 oz. USDA Select Top Sirloin, Chicken Tenders Platter, Double Crunch Shrimp, Fiesta Lime Chicken, Oriental Chicken Salad, Three-Cheese Chicken Penne.

Yard House: Veterans and active duty military can enjoy a complimentary appetizer on Nov. 11.

Texas de Brazil: Active military and veterans with ID receive 25% off dinner from Monday, Nov. 9 through Thursday, Nov. 12. The offer is valid for up to six veterans and active military at the table.

Hua Hua’s Taqueria: Active military and veterans with ID a complimentary Al Pastor Taco on Nov. 11. No purchase necessary.

Golden Corral: Instead of its annual Military Appreciation Thank You Meal, the restaurant chain this year is giving all active or former members of the U.S. Military a promotional card during the month of November that can be redeemed for a free meal. You can use the promotional card from Nov. 1, 2020 through May 31, 2021 – for dine-in only from Mondays through Thursdays. There is a limit of one free meal per person while supplies last.  

Office Depot & OfficeMax: A 25 percent off coupon is available for all veterans, active-duty military personnel, retirees, reservists, and their dependents, with a valid form of military identification at the time of purchase. There are some exclusions, so be sure to read the fine print. The offer is valid in stores only, from Nov. 11-13.

Red Lobster: In honor of Veterans Day, Red Lobster is offering a free appetizer or dessert from a special menu to veterans, active duty military and reservists on Nov. 11. Guests need to show valid military identification or proof of service to redeem this offer. Tax and gratuity are not included, and the offer is for dine-in only. Click here for details. 

Perry’s Steakhouse & Grille: U.S. veterans and active military can enjoy a free Perry’s Pork Chop for DINE-IN when accompanied by a guest purchasing a dinner entree. This offer is valid for dine-in only from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Coral Gables location. Reservations and military ID are required.

Great Clips: On Nov. 11, the popular salon is giving all veterans and active military members a free haircut (regularly $17 at many locations). The deal is even better because vets who aren’t in need of a haircut on Nov. 11 can stop by on the day and pick up a free haircut card good through Dec. 11. (Haircut cards may only be redeemed by a veteran or active military, and you must present a proper military ID for either the complimentary cut or card.) Additionally, civilians who purchase a service on Nov. 11 will receive a free haircut card to share with a veteran in their life. Click here for the details. 

Little Caesar’s:  Veterans and active military can get a FREE lunch combo from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm on Veteran’s Day. Present ID or proof of service, but no coupon is necessary for this offer. The lunch features four slices of Little Caesars Detroit-style DEEP!DEEP!™ Dish pizza, and a 20-ounce Pepsi product.

National Parks: Veterans Day is the last of the Free Entrance Days at National Parks throughout the country for 2020. The free admission deal is not limited to veterans; the National Park Service invites all visitors to remember our veterans by visiting any National Park Service site for free on Nov. 11.

Vet Tix: The nonprofit organization provides free entertainment and event tickets to military members and veterans. This year, they are hosting a virtual entertainment event, Support Vet Tix 2020, on Nov. 21. The family friendly program is free and available to anyone in the world.

Pilot Flying J: All veterans get a free Pilot Coffee of any size and one free breakfast offering, such as the french toast sausage, egg and cheese sandwich, from Nov. 9-15. The Veterans Day Breakfast Combo offer is available through the Pilot Flying J app and is redeemable at participating U.S. Pilot and Flying J travel centers.  

Bubba Gump Shrimp Co.:  All military personnel, including veterans and their families, will receive 20 percent off their bill. The discount requires this coupon

Famous Dave’s: Offering all military personnel one complimentary Georgia chopped pork sandwich for either dine-in, online or to-go ordering. Use code VETERAN at checkout to receive offer. For dine-in valid proof of service is required. Click here for details. 

Chili’s: Founder Norman Brinker proudly served in the U.S. Navy. The popular restaurant is offering a special menu for veterans to eat for free from a select menu. For more information, click here

Carrabba’s Italian Grill: All service members, veterans and first responders get 10 percent off any visit to their local restaurant on Veterans Day and year-round with valid identification. Click here for details. 

Bonefish Grill: The chain’s Heroes Discount gives 10 percent off to all service members, veterans and first responders’ checks all day, every day with show of valid identification. Click here for details. 

BJ’s Restaurants: On Sunday, November 11, all military members who dine-in restaurant receive a complimentary entree up to $14.95 plus a free Dr Pepper beverage by presenting a military ID or proof of service at any BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse location nationwide.

California Pizza KitchenThis Veterans Day, enjoy a complimentary meal from the Veterans Day menu at all participating California Pizza Kitchen locations. Guests can choose from complimentary pizza, pasta or full size salad and beverage by showing proof of service. 

Red Roof Inn: Military personnel, both active and retired receive a 10% discount with promo code “VP606732” all year round. Veterans can also join Veterans Advantage for free. The program offers members additional exclusive military discounts, including a 20% discount at Red Roof with code VP 544993 year round.

Denny’s: Veterans can build a Grand Slam® breakfast on November 11, from 5 am to 12 pm. Active, non-active or retired military personnel must show a valid military ID. Dine-in only.

Dollar General: Veterans, active-duty military and their families receive an 11% discount on in-store and online purchases on Nov. 11.

Chill-N Nitrogen Ice Cream: Receive a small ice cream, plus two mix-ins, free of charge for any veteran on Nov. 11.

Cracker Barrel: All military veterans will receive a free Pumpkin Pie Latte or a slice of Double Chocolate Fudge Coca-Cola® Cake on Veteran’s Day, November 11. Dine in only. And from Oct. 28 through Nov. 11, you can receive $25 off all U.S. military branch-themed rocking chairs and 25 percent off all other military licensed products. Ten percent of the retail sales price of those eligible rocking chair purchases, either online or in-store, will be donated to Operation Homefront.

Primanti Bros.: Active or retired military can receive a free Primanti Bros. Almost Famous sandwich Sunday, November 10 and Monday, November 11, at all participating Primanti Bros. locations.

Quiznos: This deal is not just for Veteran’s Day, but since it runs through November we are including it here. Quiznos celebrates the multiplayer online role-playing game Guild Wars 2 with special reward codes available in-store. Guests will receive a card containing a unique code for in-game items in Guild Wars 2 with every order that includes at least one sub. The deal runs from November 1 through November 30, but only at participating restaurants while supplies last.

Smoothie King: On Veteran’s Day, veterans and active military personnel can receive a free 20 oz. smoothie of their choice. You must show valid military ID.

Pinecrest Veterans Day Ceremony: 11 am-1 pm at Veterans Wayside Park, 11111 Pinecrest Parkway. Includes an honor guard, military veterans’ presentations, musical performances and a picnic lunch. Free. 305-284-0900.

Doral Veterans Day Parade and Ceremony:  10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The parade will begin at 10 am on 33rd street in the parking lot of Aloft & Element Miami Doral Hotels, and end at Veterans Park, 10190 NW 33 St., where the ceremony will then begin. The Ceremony will include key speakers. (305) 593-6611.

Family Salute Fun Day in the Park: 2-6 p.m. Military and first responders family salute with amusement rides, live music, obstacle course and big truck experience. Regatta Park, 3500 Pan American Dr.

Veterans Day Ceremony and Family Fun Day in the Park:  Join the City of North Miami for a fun day in the park honoring veterans. Enjoy music, bounce houses for the kids, family activities and a complimentary picnic style lunch. Friday, Oct. 30:

Veterans Day Virtual Celebration: The City of Miami Beach is asking all Miami Beach residents that have served in the armed forces to submit a short video clip or photograph about their time serving. Videos and photographs will be used in a special Veterans Day Tribute Video. Click here for details on how to submit. Deadline is Oct. 30.

Sun., Nov. 8:

South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center: Livestream concert by The Jazz Ambassadors of the United States Army Field Band. Watch the livestream on their Facebook page at 7 p.m.
