Look up! U.S. Navy Blue Angels set to fly over Miami on May 8

You’ll want to set your alarm for this. The U.S. Navy Blue Angels will soar over the skies in Miami on May 8 from 1 to 1:25 p.m. in honor of healthcare workers, first responders and those on the front lines during this time of crisis.

The map below shows the planned route which begins at 1 p.m. over the Boca Raton Medical Center and makes its way south, mainly hugging the coastline and flying primarily over medical centers and hospitals.

A quick 25-minute flyover means the right timing is essential for viewing as the Miami portion should only last but a few minutes. They’ll be over Homestead around 1:13 p.m. and from there, make the turn back North.

The flight demonstration squad, known for their precise formations are the second oldest aerobatic team in the world. As spectators, we’re used to seeing them at sporting events and air shows but with events cancelled and outdoor venues closed, this is a rare opportunity to watch them fly overhead from the comfort of our homes.

And watching from our homes is exactly what the public is expected to do. There are strict rules in place to avoid any crowds forming during the flyover and the map clearly states them.
