The Miami Music Festival is presenting a double bill evening of two 21st Century 1 Act Operas for free with the special code doublebillfree at checkout through Eventbrite. Performances are June 22 at 7:30 p.m. and June 23 at 1 p.m. at Miami Beach Senior High.
The concert features:
The South Florida Premiere of Nico Muhly’s Dark Sisters which explores the inner lives of five sister wives married to a patriarch in the Fundamentalist Latter Day Saints Church. After state officials take custody of their children, the wives struggle to find their place in the family as their husband instructs them to “keep sweet”.
Golijov’s Ainadamar is the story of the Spanish playwright Federico García Lorca and his muse, Margarita Xirgu, as they navigate the treacherous beginning of the Spanish Civil War.
