The sky gets colorful over Haulover Beach Park this weekend during the annual Kitetober Festival on Oct. 19-20 from noon to 5 p.m. when kites of all colors, shapes and sizes soar high above gracefully dotting the sky.
Monster kites featuring the 100-foot squid, a 200-foot cuttle fish and the 500-foot whale are expected to make appearances again this year. There will also be kite makers on site you can watch make kites, face painting, a bounce house village.
Aside from musical entertainment by Miami Country Day School band 21 Hearts One Beat on Saturday and on Sunday there will be DJ, here will also be food for purchase from a variety of food trucks. Admission is free but parking is $7. Early arrival is strongly recommended and no pets allowed.
