The Miami-Dade Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department is hosting “Get Fit With Parks & Recreation” on Saturday, June 8 to celebrate Family Health & Fitness Day – an initiative of the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) showcasing the vital role local parks and recreation in keeping communities healthy.
The free event is from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Goulds Park, 11350 SW 216 St. will include fun-filled fitness activities for the entire family. All ages are welcome.
Activities will include:
- Fitness Zone® exercise session.
- Tennis lessons.
- S.N.A.G. golf lessons.
- Flag football skills challenge – Greater Goulds Optimist Club.
- Basketball.
- BikeSafe course.
- Zumba.
- “One-Minute Jumping Jacks Challenge” – Participants are encouraged to share their live stream video/photos of the challenge nationwide, using the hashtag #NRPAFamilyFitDay
