March event canceled until further notice: Free Family Fest at the Arsht Center

The Adrienne Arsht Center is hosting its 12th season of Family Fest, a free series featuring family friendly events and performances highlighting hip-hop, orchestral music, ballet and Haitian culture. The festival runs from November through May.

Here’s the schedule:

CANCELED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE: Miami Music Project
March 14, 2020, 1:30 p.m.
Miami Music Project, an organization that uses classical music to transform the lives of children through education and live performance, will present this concert featuring some of the young musicians it serves.

Miami City Ballet’s “Don Quixote”
April 18, 2020, 2 p.m.
First-access passes will be available on March 30, 2020, noon
This event offers families an opportunity to see the first act of Miami City Ballet’s “Don Quixote,” appearing in full April 17-19 at the Ziff Ballet Opera House’s Dorothea Green Theater. As a complement to the April 18 Family Fest performance, families are invited to participate in flamenco-inspired activities. Guests will be able to design their own “abanicos” (fans), learn flamenco in an intergenerational dance class and take photographs with a few of Miami City Ballet’s pre-professional dancers against a flamenco-inspired backdrop.

Tribute to Haitian Heritage
May 16, 2020, 1:30 p.m.
First-access passes will be available on April 27, 2020, noon
Haitian culture and community will be celebrated at this event featuring food, music and entertainment. The celebration also includes a performance from Miami’s Tradisyon Lakou Lakay dance company.

*Details about First-Access Passes and the Standby Line
There is a four-pass limit per guest. Reserve passes online at arshtcenter.org or by calling the Adrienne Arsht Center box office at 305-949-6722. Guests without a First-Access Pass are always invited to join the standby line.

First-Access Passes do not guarantee admission. First-Access Passes give guests access to seats beginning one hour before curtain, but seating is “first-come, first-admitted” for the performance. First-Access Passes expire 15 minutes before showtime.

Guests without a First-Access Pass, and any Passholders who arrive within 15 minutes of showtime or later, are invited to join the standby line. Guests in the standby line will be seated 15 minutes before curtain – if seats are still available.

Guests are encouraged to arrive early to enjoy a variety of preshow activities before each performance.
