Florida’s tax-free shopping weekend is here

Save on apparel, footwear, school and office supplies during Florida’s tax-free shopping weekend!

From Aug. 7-9, this annual event allows you to purchase eligible items without the usual 6 percent state sales tax. It is perfect for school shopping.

But it also includes eligible items bought for babies and adults, so you don’t need to be a student to enjoy the savings.

To keep up with latest news, sign up for the daily Miami on the Cheap newsletter. You can also follow us on Facebook and on Twitter.

Eligible merchandise includes:

  • Select school supplies costing $15 or less per item (such as pens, notebooks, erasers, rulers, scissors and protractors).
  • Clothing, footwear and some accessories costing $60 or less per item (such as purses, raincoats, socks, sweaters, ties, shirts and skirts).
  • The first $1,000 of the price of personal computers and certain computer accessories, when purchased for noncommercial home or personal use.
