Budding student playwrights, Fantasy Theatre Factory needs you!

Calling it “Together Apart — Youth Theatre in the Time of Coronavirus,” South Florida students in third through 12th grade should compose a theatrical piece that focuses on their thoughts, uncertainties, changes and challenges in today’s world. Pieces should be written in theatrical format like a short play or monologue. The deadline to submit is May 1. Submit here.

The staff and leaders of Fantasy Theatre Factory hope to engage the youth and provide a creative outlet for them to create art out of the current world situation. They will review the submissions and choose several to present as staged play readings in a virtual event on May 8 at 8 p.m. on their Facebook page.

A fixture in South Florida’s theatre community since 1982, Fantasy Theatre Factory aims to bring live theatre experiences to the community at large. They perform at rural and inner-city schools, community centers, hospitals, parks and theatres. Their shows range from comedic presentations with clowns and costumed characters to play readings and environmental-themed interactive experiences.
