Call it “Overtown’s Got Talent” — like the TV show “America’s Got Talent.”
Singers, comedians, rappers, and other artists compete for a chance at $500 every first Friday of the month for “Lyric Live” at the Black Archives Historic Lyric Theatre in Miami’s Overtown neighborhood.
A grand finale pits the winner of each month against each other for a chance to win $1,000, a plaque and 10 hours of free studio time at Studio Center Miami. A previous winner launched himself onto “The Voice.”
Competitors, be warned, because the audience is allowed to “boo” people off stage. Tickets to watch the show are $10 in advance and $15 at the door.
