Free live music at Government Center

Free live music at Government Center

The good folks behind “Wake up Miami!” say the world is a nice place to live when you wake up with music.

They’ll test that theory when they play free live music, dance and performances during the morning work rush commute at the busiest Metrorail/Metromover station in Miami: the Government Center, 101 NW First St..

The music will play every Monday morning for one hour starting at 8:30 am, excluding major holidays and voting/early voting days. Hopefully, it’ll motivate Miamians.

The schedule is as follows:

  • Sept. 30: UM Frost School of Music String Quartet

Wake up Miami! is a program implemented in association with Miami-Dade Transit to bring free live music concerts for around sixty minutes Monday mornings to Miami Metrorail and Metromover Stations. It features classical, jazz, folk, and world music presented by FIU School of Music students, talents from local organizations, and other Miami-based performers. PAXy is actively working on getting funds to have a permanent program in multiple stations around the city. Donations are appreciated. For more information, visit PAXy.org/WakeupMiami!
