O, Miami poetry festival free and cheap events

The O, Miami poetry festival is back for a new round of events that attempt to deliver a poem to all 2.6 million+residents of Miami-Dade County.

The festival runs through April 30, with lots of free events celebrating the spoken word. Here are some of the free events during the first few weeks:

April 26: Koubek Poetry Crawl in Little Havana. Interactive reading with Miami Dade College faculty and students while strolling through the Center then collect words and phrases and images to share with the poets. 7-9 p.m. at Koubek Center.

April 27: La Poesie & Company Zine. A workshop that combines the world of French poetry with the art of zine making. Supplies and materials will be provided. 10 a.m. to noon at Cafe Creme in North Miami. $5, supplies and materials provided.

April 28: Poetry in Paradise Renewed. Pop-up performances throughout the park led by ArtPrevails Project a literary arts collective, culminating in an interdisciplinary performance on the shoreline. 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Virginia Key Beach.

April 29: Where the Land is Free. Presented by VOICES: Poetry for the People the evening features a visual art and poetry showcase featuring works about immigration, clean water, displacement due to gentrification and the environment. 7-11 p.m. at Bakehouse Art Complex.
