MOCA Free Family Day

Marielle PlasirMOCA is offering free art activities and performances on Family Day, scheduled for May 15 from noon to 4 p.m.

There will be creative Caribbean activities for the entire family. Spend the day at MOCA and learn, create, engage and embody.

Here’s the schedule:

12 pm | Main Gallery: Marielle Plaisir
Museum tour of Marielle Plaisir’s exhibition ACTA NON VERBA.
ACTA NON VERBA performance by Marielle Plaisir.

12:30–2 pm | Pavilion Gallery: Carl Juste
“Caribbean Aesthetics: The Gaze, the Portrait and You”
Interactive, hands on workshop. (ages 12 and older)

12:30–2 pm | Paradise Courtyard: Rocko Rocket
“Tropical Rockets from Outer Space”
Interactive, hands on workshop. (children’s activity)

2 pm | MOCA Gift Shop: Yolande & R.Jackson
Rocko Rocket book signing.

2:30-4 pm | Pavilion Gallery: Brian Wong Won

“Carnival Mask Making: Trinidad, Guadeloupe, Miami and Beyond”
In collaboration with Carnival Arts.
Interactive, hands on workshop. (ages 10 and older)

2:30-4 pm | Paradise Courtyard: Jean Hyacinth and Miami KIZOMBA School
“Compas, Zouk, Kizomba Dance Workshop”
Dance class + performance.
(all ages)

Free museum admission.
