Before you buy medications, see if you can get them for free.
Publix offers a variety of prescription medications free of charge, for as long as your doctor prescribes them.

The Lakeland-based supermarket chain recently made changes to its offerings – however, some free medications are still available.
According to a spokeswoman from Publix Super Markets’ Customer Care Department:
While a few antibiotics are no longer available free of charge, we’re happy to continue offering the following medications for free:
Amlodipine – all strengths
Amoxicillin – all capsules, tablets, and liquids
Lisinopril – all strengths
Metformin immediate release tables – 500 mg, 850 mg, and 1,000 mg
In addition, some common prescription medications are available for $7.50 for a 90-day supply. You can find that list of $7.50 medications by clicking here.
Available medications treat conditions such as:
- Heart Health/Cardiovascular
- Diabetes
- Cholesterol
- Mental Health
- Seizure Disorders
- Parkinson’s Disease
- Alzheimer’s Disease
- Osteoporosis
- Gout
- Arthritis/Pain
- Gastrointestinal
- Asthma & Allergies
- Men’s Health
- Women’s Health

I went to Publix today to get a 14 day treatment of Ciprofloxacin and they charged me $20.68. It's definitely not free.

Thank you for alerting us. We contacted a Publix spokeswoman who said the pharmacy recently changed its list of free medications - and we have updated the post accordingly!
