Enjoy ‘A Christmas Carol’ presentation … virtually

Christmas tales are always a welcome holiday tradition.

If you love them, don’t miss Chicago-based Manual Cinema’s virtual presentation of the Charles Dickens Christmas classic, “A Christmas Carol,” reimagined as a colorful puppet show.

Presenting the show will be the South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center via Marquee.tv.

Watch online at 8 p.m. Dec. 12 and 19 and at 4 p.m. Dec. 13 and 20.

The world premiere is presented by the interdisciplinary performance collective Manual Cinema, whose interpretation incorporates the now ever-present Zoom video conference.

It tells the story of an avowed holiday skeptic, Aunt Trudy, who has been recruited to channel her late husband Joe’s famous Christmas cheer. From the isolation of her Chicago apartment, she reconstructs his annual puppet show – over a Zoom call while the family celebrates Christmas Eve under lockdown. But as Trudy becomes more absorbed in her own version of the story, the puppets take on a life of their own, and the family’s call transforms into a stunning cinematic adaptation of Dickens’s classic ghost story.

Tickets for the livestream video are $15. Click here to purchase and for further details.
