Film lovers, are you missing your foreign films? The Miami Film Festival isn’t until March, but you can get your fill of Spanish films during the weeklong Recent Spanish Cinema Series from Oct. 22-29.
It kicks off and ends with drive-in events at the Miami-Dade Youth Fair Expo site, which has for months now served as a drive-in venue. However, films will be available virtually from Oct. 23-28.

The virtual showings are nice because once you purchase your $12 ticket, you have 72 hours to stream the film.
Choose from these films:
- “Schoolgirls,” an award-winning film by Director Pilar Palomero, a coming-of-age story set in the 1990s about an introverted Catholic school girl from a small town and the adventures that ensure when she meets a new classmate from the big city of Barcelona.
- “The Day of the Beast,” a cult classic by Director Alex de la Iglesia about a Basque priest who believes he can prevent the apocalypse with the help a heavy metal fan and occult television show host.
- “The Endless Trench,” an award-winning film by Director Jose Mari Goenaga about a woman’s quest to keep her husband safe from execution during the Spanish Civil War.
- “The Europeans,” directed by Victor Garcia Leon, is a film adaptation of satirist Rafael Azcona’s novel about two young men who join an eclectic bohemian community.
- “The Innocence,” about a small town teenager who dreams of becoming a performer in Barcelona and her secret summer romance dating an older boy.
- “Instant Love,” which tells the tale of a couple whose plan to rekindle their romance leads to an argument and the two people they were set to meet sparking a romance.
- “The Invisibles,” about the frequent meetings by three women in their 50s and their frustration about mature women becoming invisible.
- “Mother,” about the growing bond between the mother of a missing boy and an adolescent tourist who is a constant reminder of the child she’s lost.
- “Rosa’s Wedding,” which is the unconventional story of a 45-year-old woman who decides to marry…herself, to the disapproval of her father, brothers and daughter.
