Vizcaya’s orchid-care class is Saturday

First, Vizcaya Museum reopened its gardens. Now we’ve learned it is offering gardening workshops online.

The good news just keeps on coming for garden-lovers!

Vizcaya is offering “Orchid Care 102” from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 20.

Its orchid specialist, Axel Cahiz, will discuss best practices for four of South Florida’s most popular orchids: Cattleyas, Phalaenopsis, Vandas and Dendrobiums.

To keep up with latest news, sign up for the daily Miami on the Cheap newsletter. You can also follow us on Facebook and on Twitter.

Cost is $20. If you’re a Vizcaya member, you get 50% off the price. Sale ends Thursday, June 18.

The workshop will include a lecture, demo portion and a question-and-answer session.

There will also be a chance to submit a photo of your orchids and ask troubleshooting questions during the class.

BUT THERE’S MORE!

By the way, there’s another gardening class coming up in June.

The University of Florida/IFAS Extension in Manatee County is presenting a free online discussion on “Native Plants for the Home Landscape.”

The Zoom webinar – set for 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Friday, June 12 – will focus on the types of Florida native plants that can work well for homes in particular areas.
