Miami’s city parks fully reopen

Park lovers rejoice! City of Miami parks are open!

These rules remain in place:

  • Masks or facial coverings must be worn at all times, unless doing vigorous exercise (ex: jogging, running)
  • Parkgoers must restrict their activities and proximity to individuals from their own household only, with limited and specific exceptions
  • Volleyball Courts remain closed
  • Playgrounds and Outdoor Fitness Courts are open on a park by park basis
  • Recreation Centers remain closed
  • Indoor activities and programs remain suspended
  • Use of water fountains is strictly prohibited Restroom facilities at parks remain closed 

However, with the Phase II reopening, some organized activities are now allowed, provided a City of Miami Park permit has been secured.

Those activities include:

  • Skills and Drills for youth sports limited to a “pod” of one coach to nine or less children for training. Additionally, pods must be kept separate in their activities. 
  • Health and Wellness Fitness Classes will have similar regulations. The ratio has to be one instructor and nine or less participants. The approved permit must include defining hours, locations and days. 
  • All classes are required to keep six feet social distancing during both class and practice sessions.
  • Participants must wear mask up to the point of participation, take off and put back on once participation stops.

Open with Exceptions and Restrictions

Select City of Miami parks are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., daily.

In order to limit person-to-person contact within open parks, the following rules are in effect and are being enforced by Miami Police officers and park rangers:

  • Playgrounds, picnic shelters, volleyball courts, and sports fields remain closed.
  • Parkgoers may visit parks either individually or with members of their household only.
  • Facemasks required at all times, unless under age 2 or doing vigorous exercise like running.
  • Social distancing required at all times, except for household groups visiting the park together.
  • Parks are open for passive and leisure use only: walking, jogging, cycling, roller skating, singles tennis and solo racquetball.
  • Organized sports, pickup games and training sessions are strictly prohibited.
  • Birthday parties, barbeques, picnics and gatherings of any other kind are strictly prohibited.
