Enjoy National Park Week from the comfort of home

It’s not the same as being there, walking through nature and enjoying our national parks, but the National Park Service is doing the next best thing. In honor of National Park Week from April 18-26, the National Park Service is joining America’s official charity for national parks, the National Park Foundation, to present a virtual celebration.

Aside from hosting a variety of virtual experiences at parks throughout the country, there are 11 theme days with corresponding video for each one:

  • April 18 – Junior Ranger Day where kids explore, learn and protect on their way to earning their badge
  • April 19 – Volunteers in Parks Day to give thanks and honor all those who volunteer at national parks
  • April 20 – Military Monday recognizing and honoring all those who serve in our armed forces
  • April 21 – Transportation Tuesday showcasing the National Park System’s link to transportation
  • April 22 – Earth Day featuring park exploration, resources for keeping our natural spaces clean and kids becoming Junior Explorers
  • April 23 – Throwback Thursday with a look at past efforts to keep the nation’s historic heritage preserved in parks
