Care for a dance? National Water Dance invites you to join the fun virtually

Looking for a creative outlet in this time of confusion and growing isolation?

Miami choreographer Dale Andree invites you to join her National Water Dance in “dancing for our lives” online at 4 p.m. April 18.

It’s free and open to anyone who wants to bust a move – dancers and non-dancers of all ages. It can also serve as a great stress-reliever!

National Water Dance was created to draw attention to and action on water issues. It has taken place every other year since 2014.

Originally, this year’s edition was set to feature more than 100 dance ensembles, university dance departments and other groups simultaneously dancing at water sites throughout the country. Of course, now they’re taking the dance online.

This year’s focus is on climate crisis but has an added message: Organizers would like the event to also inspire hope and togetherness through movement.

How to participate: According to the National Water Dance Facebook page, there are four simple steps:

1. @ the National Water Dance on social to let them know you’re going to dance so they can follow you back.

2. Compose your dance and include a shared movement for the beginning and end.

3. Go live on your social media account at 4 p.m. April 18.

4. When you are done with your livestream video, save it and upload it to your social media account on Instagram or Facebook. Include one of the following hashtags (#nationalwaterdance #nationalwaterdance2020 #dancingforourlives) and tag them when you post so they can reshare your moves.
