Arch Creek Park is a gem in the City of North Miami and on Feb. 29 it’s the host site for Meet at the Bridge Saturday, a free day filled with family-friendly activities from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces, Florida Public Archaeology Network (FPAN) and Arch Creek Trust are hosting a day of nature walks, talks about archaeology, pottery making and musical performances.
The event is a kick-off for Florida Archaeology Month and a celebration of the re-opening of the Arch Creek Park Museum exhibits. Arch Creek is the site of the historic natural limestone bridge that has been a meeting place for people for thousands of years.
Schedule of the day’s activities is as follows…
11 a.m. and 3 p.m.: Nature walk with a park naturalist
11:45 a.m.: Musical performance by Eric King
Noon: Pottery Making Workshop with Florida Public Archaeology Network
1 p.m.: Excavations at Arch Creek with a presentation by Archaeologist, Bob Carr
2:15 p.m.: Musical performance by Wagner, Hand & Pflug
Ongoing Activities: Archery from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
