Josef Gingold’s principal exponent, Cuban-born violinist Andrés Cárdenes, leads the festival as Music Director. This year’s “Reimagined” festival, because it’s gone virtual, still features a variety of premier concerts by students and faculty.

This is the schedule of concerts during the festival. They’re all from 7-9 p.m.:

  • July 11 – “A Tasting Menu for the Ears: Slavs to France,” music of Barriere, Dvorak and Saint-Saens performed by artist faculty
  • July 17 – “Bach Marathon,” by student artists
  • July 18- “Imagination in any Language: From the Vignettes of Schumann to the Mastery of Chamber Music by Ravel,” music by Schumann, Brahms, Korngold, Shostakovich and Ravel performed by artist faculty
  • July 24 – Student recital
  • July 25 – “Homage to Mr. Gingold: The Versatile Mentor,” music of Beethoven, Kaufman, Britten and Franck performed by artist faculty

The festival focuses on both solo and chamber repertoire for strings and piano and is co-founded by two veteran arts administrators, Dr. Giselle Elgarresta Rios and Robert H. Smith, Jr., both of Miami, FL.
