Free outdoor Community Performing Arts Festival

Free outdoor Community Performing Arts Festival

Miami Dade College (MDC) Kendall Campus’ On Stage series presents its first ever free Outdoor Community Performing Arts Festival from noon to 6 p.m. Jan. 19. The event will take place on the soccer field.

The festival aims at making the arts accessible to all and bringing students and members of the community together to celebrate local talent, culture and creativity. An outdoor stage will feature performances encompassing all styles of music from jazz and opera to rhythm & blues. Dance students will perform African dance and hip hop, while the theater department will act scenes from the play Waiting for Lefty. Bands will also take the stage and there will be a special performance by the Confucius Institute. Interactive activities will engage children of all ages. Attendees can purchase bites from several local food trucks. Various student clubs will also be present to provide information, sell concessions and assist the public. No outside food or alcohol is admitted.

On Stage is the official concert series of MDC’s Kendall Campus and showcases the combined talents of students, faculty and alumni in the Music, Theater and Dance department, as well as visiting artists.
