Free 22nd American Black Film Festival event

The 22nd American Black Film Festival (ABFF) will celebrate Father’s Day with the annual Community Day event, in partnership with the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau (GMCVB).  This family-inspired celebration takes place on Sunday, June 17, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the historic Lyric Theater, 819 NW 2nd Ave.

The event includes film screenings, panel and film program showcase. The festivities, emceed by Danni Washington host of Fox’s Xploration Nature Knows Best, include:

  • The debut of TV One’s original show Evidence of Innocence
  • Screening of the feature film The Flea by Miami native Nicanson Guerrier, telling the story of the day in the life of a flea market manager
  • Screening of short student films including:
    • The Role Model by Sandy Nuñez and Rodrick Whisby
    • Dreams by Deondre Marshall and Adonis Casanova
    • Be Yourself by Beatrix Alerte
    • Aftermath by Hansley Nicholas
