The 30th Annual Asian Culture Festival returns to Fruit & Spice Park on March 7 and 8 from 10 am to 5 pm. The fun-filled family event offers a virtual day trip to Asia featuring a variety of Asian arts, crafts, entertainment, plants and exotic cuisine. Admission is $14 for adults, $5 for children ages six to 12 and free for children under six.
Countries represented at the Asian Culture Festival include Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Iran, Israel, Japan, Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Pakistan, the Philippines, Singapore, Sri-Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, Tibet, Turkey and Vietnam.
At the Japan tent, sponsored by the Consulate-General of Japan in Miami, guests can try their hand at Ikebana (the art of Japanese flower arrangement), Origami (paper folding) and Japanese calligraphy. On the main stage, the Consulate is co-sponsoring Taiko drumming performances by Fushu Daiko, which thrills audiences with its thundering rhythms, dynamic movements and intense showmanship.
Additional highlights include: folk dance, classical music and fruit and vegetable carving from Thailand; games and puppet shows from Malaysia; authentic Persian arts, literature, crafts and dance from Iran; a traditional Lion Dance from China and much more.
